Mother Nature tricked! We got the show in FINALLY on SUNDAY!
Week 8 of the 56th consecutive season of racing at the Ridge is scored a success.

For Immediate Release BRS-062520231

The THIRD event of the season sponsored by Wells River Savings Bank succumbs to rain on Saturday night, BUT BRS management tricked Mother Nature and came back to run the show on Sunday and won!
The Wells River Saving Bank feature winners for June 25: Tim Churchill in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Michael Danforth Jr ® in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes; Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets OFF, High Country Dispensary Late Models OFF, LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks Garrett Brown, Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners: Hayden Bishop Joe Mama’s Sporting Goods 4/6 Cylinder Enduro Jason Porter, and when at the Ridge WYKR Sprint Cars of New England Clay Dow.
The Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds see their fifth different winner as Tim Churchill starting on the pole was able to hold of the mighty beasts behind him to take his first checkers since his return in the Sportsman Modifieds. No easy feat from wherever you start Churchill played it cool, survived a couple of restarts, and was able to beat out Brian Chaffee who came home in second and DJ Robinson who joined them in victory lane taking third. Josh Sunn and Max Dolliver completed the top five.
A history making moment occurred in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes when the youngest and the oldest competitors each won their heat race and then went on to finish one and two in the feature. First, we gotta say “who lit a fire under his ass”! Bob Shepard, who threatens to retire every year is shining brightly this season. The last time we raced he made it to the third place in victory lane. Obviously, he got a taste of something he likes as this week he moved up one position to the second-place spot. The second thing we gotta say is where did this kid come from? A rookie in the division and our youngest driver Michael Danforth Jr beats out the old guy to claim his first ever win. You can’t help but wonder who was shaking their head more? The youngin, how did I beat the old guy, or the old guy, why did I let that youngin beat me! The Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes victory lane is a joy to write about lately, and the guy to join the pair with his best finish of the season and way over due to be there was Jason Horniak. Ryan Christian comes home in fourth with Josh Harrington in fifth.
The Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets (were off return to action on July 1st).
The High-Country Dispensary Late Models (were off return to action on July 1st).
Garret Brown gets his second win in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks his first coming last season at the end of the season, this one will hopefully set him up for more to come this season. Brown was able to beat out Dustin Towle who crossed the line in second his best finish of the season and John Fields who took home third. Brown becomes the fifth different winner. While Brown is scored the winner of the battle the man of note for the night and winner of his own war of mechanical problems was Bryan King, who having missed a qualifying spot would have to start last on the field. King worked his way up to just one spot shy of victory lane in fourth with Andrew Fitgerald claiming fifth.
Hayden Bishop joins Logan Martin as a repeat winner in the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners. He was able to fend off a star-studded pack of veterans to grab the checkers first. Logan Spencer tight on his tail would have to settle for second with Martin making it to the final victory lane spot. Travis King came home in fourth with Tom Brown taking home fifth.
In the Joe Mama’s Sporting Goods 4/6 Cylinder Enduro Jason Porter had to come from deep in the pack methodically worked his way to the front and at the end of 75 laps was once again your winner, making him the one everyone wants to dethrone. Porter not only made it to first, first, he was also the only one left on the lead lap. Chris Mooney joined him in victory lane in second with Eric Lundblad at the checkers in third. Kelly Miller Jr. and Scott Dowland completed the top five across the line for the checkers. A post-race inspection would disqualify Lundblad and Dowland, moving Brandon Gray to fourth and Jacob Hall-Larson to fifth for the final finish. Joe Mama’s Sporting Goods 4/6 Cylinder Enduros return to action on Saturday July 29th.
The when at the Ridge WYKR Sprint Cars of New England hit the track only to have to be side railed for a minute when a brief shower came in. Mother Nature didn’t have enough in her this week, and once the skies cleared again, they returned to the track for their 25-lap main event. It was a who’s who in victory lane with Clay Dow beating out the “Professor” Chris Donnelly for the win and Will Hull who came home in third. Kayden Berry and an old familiar face Tunk Berry rounded out the top five. The when at the Ridge WYKR Sprint Cars of New England return for action on July 22nd for their SCoNE-360 Sprint Car Special
