Piersons nephew/uncle claim feature wins in DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds & Coupes

Johnson authoritively takes the USAC DMA Midget win

 For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                     BRS-051615-1

BRADFORD, VT – It’s the end of a long drought in the Bond Auto DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds for Adam Pierson, Corinth VT who finally captured the win Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway, winning the 40-lap, one caution short of a non-stop, feature. While Pierson battled it out with Kevin Chaffee, Bradford VT for the second place spot pole sitter TC Forward held on to the point for half of the race. On lap twenty a bobble by Forward gave Pierson, Chaffee and Derek Graham, Woodsville NH the opportunity they were looking for, getting by Forward shuffling him back to fourth. With lapped cars coming into play the three would settle for that running order finish, giving Pierson his first win in the DIRTcar Sportsman Mods since 2013. Chaffee came home second with Graham in third. Josh Sunn claimed fourth and Forward crossed the line in fifth.

In the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes the story was the same for Uncle Melvin Pierson, Corinth VT with the only difference being the starting position. Pierson having struggled the first couple of weeks was able to capitalize on his pole starting position and leave the field in his dust for their 30 lap, also one caution short of a nonstop feature. This gave Pierson his first win in the DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes since 2013. Thomas Placey, Bradford VT and Jason Colbeth, Newbury VT had to work thru half the field to get to the front and ran out of time to set any challenge of Pierson. When the checkers waived it was Placey and Colbeth in that order for second and third. Teddy Salomaa and Jeremy Beckley rounded out the top five.

Joe Krawiec in the USAC DMA Midgets just can’t seem to catch a break as he is two for two leaving the track on the wreckers. This first year champ in the Midgets is looking for some good luck and we hope he gets some soon! In addition the dominance of Adam Pierson seems to be wavering a bit he has been shut out of the win for two weeks straight. Tonight there would be a couple of new faces back in victory lane with Pierson, who did manage to hold on for second. The class act of the night was given by Kenney Johnson in only his second time around the Ridge. Johnson starting sixth took the point away from Scott Holcomb on lap fifteen and said see ya later. Holcomb would fall to Pierson on lap nineteen settling in for the third and final victory lane spot. Pierson’s team mate Josh Sunn came home fourth and Vince Lucca rounded out the top five. The USAC DMA Midgets will back in action on May 30th.

Brandon Gray is making it look easy in the Crazy Ed’s Limited Late Model feature as he took the lead on lap five coming from the rear and went on to claim this third consecutive win. Matt Lashua, Canaan NH in his second appearance grabbed the runner up spot with Bobby Bell in his own car this week claiming the final victory lane spot. Travis Smith and Tim Martin completed the top five.

The Weglarz Property Service/F.M.S. Auto Parts Four Cylinder feature offered plenty of thrills and spills for the fans. A red flag for a wild ride for Don Reynolds and Sean Perron on lap one set the tone for this event. Both drivers were A-OK but done for the night. When racing resumed it was it became the survival of the fittest. And the fittest are once again proved to be Mike Ryan rookie Justin Severance and wild man Charlie Lakin who crossed the finish line in that order. Robert Welch and David Durkee finished the top five.
