For Immediate Release BRS-081917-1
The 50th year of racing celebration sponsored by Sabil & Sons Inc brought cars of yester year and today from far and wide for the fans to see with the regular 99ROCK racing series divisions putting on some of the best racing excitement of the season August 19, 2017.
Things were much calmer for the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds this night with mishaps at a minimum, meaning if you were coming from the back to set a challenge for the win you had to be on your toes and ready. Richie Simmons was just that coming from the second to last row he methodically worked his way to the front, picking up Adam Pierson along the way. Pierson would be unable to get past Simmons who went on to score his win of the season. Pierson crossed the line in second with Terry Williams grabbing third. Stephen Lary with his best finish of the season crossed the line in fourth with Mike Ryan taking fifth.
It has taken 16 weeks plus madness night to see the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes make it thru the event without a caution-going green to checkers. It was thought it would never happen but tonight it did and the man who capitalized was Earl “Squirrel” Maxham. He might not have led all the laps but he led the most important one the final which earned him an extra $800.00 to take home on top of his feature win earnings. Thomas Placey would end up the short man on stick crossing the line in second with Brian Chaffee coming home in third. Tanner Siemons and Matt Ellsworth rounded out the top five.
The Laquerre’s Sports USAC DMA Midgets were off and will return on 8/26/17 for their next regular scheduled event.
Car count was up in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models, making the win a bit more challenging. Wayland Childs would benefit from being in the right line to get by and to the front as he takes the win over Ryan Christian. Dougie Boucher claimed the third victory lane spot. Bryan Campbell and Travis Smith completed the top five.
Jesse Durkee gets another win in the Weglarz Property Service beating out Jason Porter who crossed behind him and second and Kelly Miller in third. Steve Bell and Buddy Welch were the lucky ones to complete the top five
The WYKR Sprint Cars of New England were on hand once again to put on a show for the fans. When the checkers waived Jacob Williams was declared the winner with Tyler Austin crossing in second and Ryan Avery in third. Clay Dow and Kevin Chaffee rounded out the top five.
