Bear Ridge Speedway finally gets one in!!!
Todd Buckwold is the big winner in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds
For Immediate Release BRS-05242025-1
It only took us four weeks, but we finally had a great night of racing despite the cold conditions and threat of rain. It sure feels good to get the first full night of racing with all divisions running heats and regular lap features for the night in the record books.
Feature winners of the 58th consecutive season race week four sponsored by Leroux Brothers Inc were Todd Buckwold in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Jason Gray in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes; Travis Shinn in the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Sportsman Modifieds Limited; Chris Murray in the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets; the High Country Dispensary Late Models were OFF; in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks Derrick Stearns; and Kevin LaForest in the Woodsville Power Equipment Bobcat Ridge Runners.
In the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds Todd Buckwold was able to capitalize on an early caution getting the jump for the lead on the restart and hold off the field in a fast-paced feature for the win. He held of Thomas Placey no stranger to the Ridge coming back after a time off moving up from the sportsman coupes. Placey gave Buckwold a run for his money but was unable to make a pass that would stick for the lead. Finishing third in the final podium spot was Jason Gray. Mike Ryan and Matt Ellsworth, your second rookie contender rounded out the top five. Martin Lessard hailing all the way from Wendover Quebec for the first time finished sixth and Fire Swamp asl making the trip for the first time finished 13th pitting early with mechanical issues. It was a great field of cars and one hell of a race, setting the scene for the edge of your seat racing you expect to see at the Ridge.
The track was fast and the Wells River Chevrolet-part of the Auto Saver Group DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes were wicked fast after struggling to get their feature event going. When they finally figured it out, they would go nonstop until the two to go mark when a caution would bunch the pack back up. Until then Jason Gray, Jason Horniak and Earl Maxham proved it was a fast track with plenty of room to pass, the three of them working their way through the field all to finish in the top ten. Gray was dominant and grabbed the checkers with Ali Pushee able to hold on for second and Cooper Hodge third. Jason Horniak and Cody Gregoropoulos rounded out the top five.
Travis Shinn gets the win in the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Sportsman Modified Limited beating out Michael Danforth who is trying his hand in a Modified Limited while running for the points battle in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes again, and longtime Bear Ridge competitor Bryan king. An old familiar name Wayne Stearns made his first appearance finishing in fourth with Shawn King rounding out the top five.
In the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets the perfect storm is brewing with two of the top competitors more than ready to claim another title, winning the first two events. Both have come out of the box with their game on, and this points battle even after only two weeks is setting up to be a real barn burner. Chris Murray is scored the winner coming from deep in the pack beating out Brandon Piastka last year’s champion who is looking to repeat, and John Forlano who comes home in third. Will Hull opening nights feature winner and Rookie Jacob Perry in his first appearance at the Ridge came home in fifth.
The High-Country Dispensaries Late Models were off and will return to action on May 31st.
In the LaValley Building Supply Derrick Stearns got to the front quickly coming from the rear making it look like child’s play as he cruised to the checkers for the win beating out Tyler Fellows and Josh Bussino. Another new face in his first trip around the Ridge Jon Porter finished fourth with Keith Mansur rounding out the top five.
In the Woodsville Power Equipment Bobcat Ridge Runners, it took just one week to remind everyone that Kevin LaForest will be the one to beat in 2025 for the championship as he begins his quest for back-to-back titles. LaForest got to the front in five laps and went on to score his first win of the season. Rookie contender Nathen Sargent takes home second with Zach Audet third. Michael Paton and Tim Davis rounded out the top five.
Coming up this Saturday May 31st sponsored by Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank is a special general admission show, adults (ages 16 to 61) $18.00, children 11 and under $2.00. Teens (12 to 15) and seniors 62 and older $15.00.
