The Ridge to cancel week four of season due to COVID-19 stay home stay safe orders. Some restricted activity beginning to happen

For Immediate Release BRS-051720-1

As we continue to work our way thru the COVID-19 pandemic we have to cancel yet another night of racing at the Ridge. This coming Saturday May 23rd was to be our Memorial Day Remembrance of lost friends at the Ridge, sponsored by one of our new partners The WOLF 95.3/107.1. We are hoping to be able bring Heath and the gang in later on during the season. In the meantime as we remember our lost friends we continue to hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy.
Even though we are unable to have a night of racing, we were able to, due to the turning of the spiket of the State of Vermont COVID-19 guidance, able to finally see some dirt fly at the Ridge with a closed practice. We have been working with the promoters/owners of Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre VT and state officials for a plan of phased activity at our facilities in hopes of an opportunity to open the doors even if only to a restricted number of patrons sometime in the near future. Our plans aligned with the Governor’s softening of the state restrictions, and we have been able to start to have CLOSED practices. Saturday the 16th was our first of the season, we are required to restrict the number of cars and people we allow on site, and we are extending the opportunity to our 2020 registered drivers.
With everyone wearing a face mask, asked the COVID-19 health questions and temperature checked two practice sessions were held. We wish to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to all the participants and crews on site for the practices. Upper Valley Ambulance was very impressed with everyone keeping their masks on at all times, and practicing social distancing. SO we THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your cooperation and helping set the standard on what racing will look like as we move thru 2020. We all got it right this time, so we are going to try it again on the 23rd, again for 2020 registered drivers.
Bear Ridge Speedway’s number one goal is to make sure that we do everything in our power to keep all our competitors, crews, staff and eventually fans safe. So when you get the chance to join us at the Ridge in 2020 please be sure to be wearing your mask as you will need to, to be able to be a part of the Ridge in 2020.
In our next press we will make the decision regarding May 30th. We are just as anxious as everyone is get back to racing, but it is first and foremost more important to do everything we can to keep us all safe and healthy.
At this time our CLOSED practice session are pre-registration only for 2020 Bear Ridge Speedway registered drivers with a limited number of cars and crewes, and even our staff allowed on the property. 2020 license holders with valid email addresses on their applications will be contacted via email with the particulars for our May 23rd CLOSED practice. These sessions will be CLOSED and only approved drivers and crews will be allowed on the property. There will be no spectators allowed, and staffing is at the barest minimum we can get by with. We know you will all help us to make sure we continue do it right, so that we can get to the next phase in our reopening efforts.
The State of Vermont’s stay at home executive order is still in effect. We will, as is everyone, continue to monitor the progress of opening our facility back up, and will keep everyone updated on the actual opening night as time progresses.
Applications continue to come in for the “99ROCK wfrd” Weekly Racing Series divisions. Drivers remember if you want to be able to be considered for one of our closed practices, you will need to have your completed paperwork to us BEFORE hand, so please get yours in the mail today. All forms are available on line on the website. To be eligible for the Bear Ridge Speedway points fund, and recognized at the annual awards banquet, drivers must hold a 2020 Bear Ridge Speedway or DIRTcar license, compete in the required number of events and run on track designated tires as indicated in the rule book.
As we progress, we will keep you updated of any changes. As you know Butch won’t cancel till the last minute, so we are holding out hope that things may be swinging back to a new “normal” in the near future. The 99ROCK wfrd weekly racing season will then see weekly competition in all five divisions. Racing will kick into gear at 6:00 pm(ish), based on track conditions.
We at Bear Ridge Speedway hope and pray that everyone is staying healthy and safe. Please know we are monitoring the guidance from state and health officials, and are trying to act accordingly in the best interest of our competitors, employees, and of course all of you the fans.
