Kelly Miller Sr crowned 2024 Champ in the High Country Dispensaries Late Models
Timothy Blake gets his first win in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks
57th consecutive season of racing at Bear Ridge week 20.
For Immediate Release 09142024-1
Week twenty feature winners of the 57th consecutive season sponsored by Dennis Preston Builders were Tad Kingsbury in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Todd Buckwold in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes; Kelly Miller Sr. in the High Country Dispensaries Late Models, Timothy Blake in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks, and Tim Morrill in the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners.
Tad Kingbury secured his 2024 Rookie title in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds by scoring his second win of the year. Kingsbury beat out the one serious contender for the 2024 title Max Dolliver after Dolliver got by Jeremy Huntoon for the second podium position. Huntoon starting on the outside pole was able to hold on to get his first podium finish of the season in the Mods. Ashton Pierson and Jason Gray completed the top five. Gray holds a twenty-four-point lead over Dolliver for the title and will become the first driver in modern history at the Ridge to claim his fifth title in a row in the Sportsman Modifieds when he takes the green on the 100 lap event on September 21st.
Michael Danforth Jr. once he takes the green next week will be the champion in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, in only his second year in the division. Danforth needed to stay within striking distance of runner up Tim Hodge to secure the title. Neither would make it to victory lane and Hodge finished in front of Danforth, but unfortunately it would not be by enough positions. The big winner of the night doing double duty gets his first win in the Coupes and punched his ticket into both of the growlers scheduled for next week. Todd Buckwold beat out fellow double duty contender Jason gray for the checkers with Coupe veteran Ricky Sanville joining the pair in third. Father and Son Ali and AJ Pushee rounded out the top five. Lucas Wheeler after he takes the green on their 60 lap event on the 21st will be your 2024 Rookie.
The Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets were off and return to action on September21st.
In the High-Country Dispensary Late Models Kelly Miller needed only to finish ahead of Scott Heath to claim his first championship and decided if he was going to do that he might as well do it with a win his seventh of the season. At the end of the two-segment format, he was tied overall with Todd Dunham for first, the tie is broken by the second finish which for Miller was the win. Giving him the first spot in victory lane Dunham is scored in second with Rob Rugg taking home third. Cary Moulton and Tim Higgins completed the top five. The top three along with Tim Higgins® your 2024 rookie will be recognized at the annual awards ceremony at the Fire Side Inn on Friday November 8th.
There wasn’t a person in the pits who wasn’t happy with the outcome of the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks event. Joining the ranks in its second year it only took Timothy Blake four years to get his first win. Blake is what racing is all about and one of the reasons you keep coming back despite all the adversity. Coming from a DNS last week, and while disappointed still upbeat he avenged himself in the best way possible by getting that win. With only a handful of laps to go, it looked like Andrew Fitzgerald was going to take away that dream come true, but the stars were aligned for Blake as Fitzgerald fell victim to a flat tire taking him out of contention. Aren Keene, who is just one green flag away from his first championship finishes in second with Dustin Towle in third. Keith Mansur® and Tyler Fellows® rounded out the top five. Mansur once he takes the green on the 21st will be officially declared your 2024 rookie.
Tim Morrill joins the elite group of drivers who will be recognized at the annual awards banquet when he scored the win in the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners after winning his heat race and the dash. Of the sixteen opportunities to earn a triple crown only four drivers were able to achieve the goal. Morrill was joined in victory lane by Travis King who came home in second and Stan Otterman who got third. Randy Morrill and Kevin LaForest completed the top five. Kevin LaForest has secured his second title in the Ridge Runners and now waits to see who his runner will be up. Next weeks’ time trials results will determine positions second thru sixth for the overall standings, with only three points separated second and third and two points separating fifth and sixth. Kyle Morris is the 2024 Rookie.
The Sprint Cars of New England were in the house for their last appearance of the season and their one hundredth race at the Ridge. This historic moment was featured with a special format of time trials to determine the line up of the first of two twenty-five lap segments to determine an overall winner. Matt Tanner won segment one with “the Professor” Chris Donnelly taking home the second segment win. Tanner’s total points of four were enough to score him the overall win, beating out Donnelly with a score of seven. Kayden Berry is third with nine points. Clay Dow and Scott Holcomb rounded out the top five.
