For Immediate Release BRS-091716-1

BRADFORD, VT – The Newport Chevrolet/99Rock Championship night crowns the Mike Rivers Automotive Late Models and Weglarz Property Service Fast Fours champions. Points battles for the remaining three divisions are pretty much decided, but with points for show up and qualifying next week the last night of racing for 2016, anything could happen.
The man on the move in the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds is no stranger to the famed quarter mile clay oval. Even though still competing regularly in the SCoNE we haven’t seen him in a while in a Sportsman Mod. Starting from deep in the pack having only been to the Ridge 3 times before this year, Chris Donnelly methodically worked his way thru traffic and stayed out of trouble to take the win over Jordan Fornwalt and DJ Robinson who hitched a ride with Donnelly went by. Fornwalt took home second with DJ taking third. Adam Gage in only his second visit this year came home in fourth and Trevor Rocke last week’s victory lane visitor rounded out the top five.
In the DIRTcar Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes it looked like they were finally, finally, finally going to go green to checkers with the winner being able to cash in on the Brass Ring Challenge, but no with four laps to go, the caution waived and the Brass Ring was not be reached yet again. Bob Shepard got the lead early and with seven laps to go the pack was crawling up his back in an effort to take over the point. A restart would bunch up the field with Shepard on point, Delaware restart style giving him enough breathing room to survive a couple more restarts before they checkers would wave. When the checkers waived Shepard scores one more win for the season, with Josh Sunn coming home in second and Chris LaForest taking third. Matt Ellsworth and Brian Chaffee completed the top five.
The Laquerre Sports USAC DMA Midgets were back in action with the absence of Josh Sunn, who is recovering nicely after his wild ride the last time the midgets were in town. Without his team mate Adam Pierson worked his way to the front to grab the win his eighth of the season. Jeffrey Champagne came home in second with Robert Tucker taking third. Dean Christensen and Adam Whitney rounded out the top five. Visiting legendary John Heydenrich came home in sixth and Seth Carlson after a wild roll over in his heat race was able to come back and finish in seventh.
In the Mike Rivers Automotive Limited Late Models Tim Martin dominated early in the season struggled a bit midseason, and watched his lead slowly get smaller over the field. Tonight Martin was ready to claim the championship and the win after setting fast time in time trials. Martin started on the pole and never looked back as he went on to grab the win over Wayland Childs and Derrek Stearns. John Fields and Russ Coutu completed the top five.
A mere nine points separated first from second in the Weglarz Property Service Four Cylinders points standings, and Mike Ryan having taken over the lead late in the season knew he had to finish strong if he wanted to able to maintain the point lead and take home his second championship in a row. Jesse Durkee who had a commanding lead in the points the first half of the season watched his lead go away, and just unable to catch a bread. Tonight was another night of bad luck as he watched Danny Doyle move to the front to grab his sixth win of the season with Ryan right on his tail to finish in second. Jim Durkee came home in third with Jason Porter and Charlie Lakin rounding out the top five. Durkee would go on to score his worst finish of the season coming home in twelfth.
The WYKR Sprint Cars of New England were on hand for their last show of the 2016 season. A field of sixteen cars took the green and with only one caution/red flag for Danny Douville who went for a wild ride ending up on top of the jersey barriers in turn three the action was fast paced for the fans. When the checkers waived it was Chad Turck for the win over Matt Hoyt and Scott Holcomb.
