Bear Ridge Speedway 2008 Sportsman Coupes

BODIES

O     1932-1948 Coupe or Sedan type only.

O     Bodies from rear window back must look stock appearing.

o       Measurements:

§         Doors: min. 36” from center line of front axle to leading edge of door.

O     Hood: no Ram air Induction NO openings in hood.

O     Rear quarters: NO modified rear quarters allowed.

o       TECH MUST APPROVE.

O     Side rails mandatory. Side rails will not extend more that 2″ wider than tires and must be rounded back to frame. Must be approved by tech.

O     Front bumpers will be outward not more than 14″ from the tires and will have no upward slant. Front crash bar will not be over 6″ wider than frame on either side.

O     Rear bumpers shall not exceed width of rear wheels. Bottom of rear and front bumpers to be no higher than 18″ from the ground. Rear and front bumpers shall have a 6″ height all the length and be made of steel tubing.

 

CARBURETORS

O     Any stock two (2) barrel carburetor allowed.

O     Holley 4412 carburetor with no modifications allowed.

O     Choke horn must remain intact and stock height.

O     1″ maximum carburetor spacer allowed maximum.

O     Choke plate and linkage may be removed.

O     Two throttle springs required, one facing forward, one backward.

O     Any air cleaner allowed with any top.

 

COOLING SYSTEMS

O     Any water pump may be used.

O     Any radiator.

O     Radiator fan must stand upright in front of engine.

O     Any fan may be used.

O     Aftermarket pulleys allowed.

 

ENGINES (CRATE)

O     602 Chevy Crate contact C.V. Elms 603/787-6352.

 

ENGINES (V8)

O     Chevrolet 305 cu. in. limit + .060 for clean up maximum

O     Ford 302 cu. in. limit + .060 for clean up maximum.

 

BLOCKS

O     Cast iron blocks only, no performance or aftermarket blocks allowed.

O     Maximum over bore for Chevrolet and Ford is .060.

O     Deck may be “zeroed” piston cannot be above block at T.D.C.

 

CYLINDER HEADS

O     Chevrolet Heads 305 cu. in.

O     All heads must be stock with OEM casting numbers for a 305 cu. in. engine.

O     No porting, polishing, grinding, sandblasting, or acid porting allowed.

O     All heads have to be cast iron.

O     Vortec heads may be drilled to except old style cast iron intakes, no other modifications allowed.     

O     Maximum valve size 1.94 intake, 1.5 exhaust.

O     Minimum chamber size of 54 cc. WITHOUT THE HEADGASKET.

O     Screw in studs and guide plates allowed.

O     No titanium allowed in motor anywhere.

O     Ford Heads 302 cu. in.

O     Any stock cast iron head allowed with OEM casting numbers.

O     Ford GT-40 “P” cast iron heads allowed.

O     No porting, polishing, grinding, sandblasting or acid porting allowed.

O     Maximum valve size 1.94 intake, 1.5 exhaust.

O     Minimum chamber size 56 cc. WITHOUT THE HEADGASKET.

O     Screw in studs and guide plates allowed.

O     No titanium allowed in motor anywhere.

O     6 Cylinder motors

O     Inline six (6) cylinders only. Not over 260 cu. in. Any piston allowed.

O     Heads – stock iron type automotive heads only. Heads may be planed. Roller rockers allowed.

O     One one-barrel or one two-barrel carburetor allowed. Carburetor must be stock, choke plate may be removed. Throttle plates in two-barrel carburetor to be no larger than 1 11/16″. Stock OEM. Any intake. Adapter may be used if necessary. 4412 Holley carb. Maximum. Choke horn must be left in place.

O     Headers may be used. Must exit behind the firewall and outside driver’s compartment. No 180º headers allowed.

O     Any cam may be used.

O     Aluminum intake allowed, with adaptor if necessary.

O     No titanium allowed in motor anywhere

 

Flat Head Motors

O     “Run what cha brung”

 

V-8 Camshaft

O     Hydraulic camshafts only.

O     Lifters must remain stock diameter.

O     Maximum valve lift .500 measured AT THE VALVE.

O     Roller cams allowed as long as it came from the factory in the block being used, roller cams are not allowed in blocks that did not come with one in it from the factory.

O     No titanium parts.

 

V-8 Connecting rods

O     Must be steel and stock length for engine used.

O     All rods must be stock for Chevrolet and Ford.

O     No aftermarket rods allowed. 

O     Chevrolet rod length is 5.700 in.

O     Ford rod length is 5.985 in.

O     No aluminum rods.

O     No billet rods.

O     No titanium parts.

 

V-8 Pistons

O     Must be stock replacement. No lightweight pistons allowed. NO Floating pins allowed.

O     Pistons must have three (3) rings per piston.

O     Maximum over size .060.

O     Eyebrow pistons ONLY!!

O     Flat top or dished pistons only, no pop up or domed pistons.

O     Same rules for standard bore blocks.

O     Part number for Chevrolet 305 engines are Seal Power part #534NP for standard blocks and part #534NP-.060 for .060 blocks or equivalent.

O     Part number for Ford 302 engines are Seal Power part #273AP for standard blocks and part number #273AP-.060 for .060 blocks or equivalent.

O     Any stock piston is legal as long as GM or Ford numbers are visible.

 

V-8 Stroke

O     All engines must remain stock stroke for make and model engine used.

O     Chevrolet 305 cu. in. = 3.48 in. stroke.

O     Ford 302 cu. in. = 3.00 in. stroke (must have Ford stamp.)

O     Chevrolet Crank shaft part ~ must weigh 50 lbs min.

 

V-8 Valve Train

O     Screw in studs and guide plates allowed.

O     No pro flow or narrowed valve stems allowed.

O     No stud girdles allowed.

O     No titanium parts allowed.

O     Any ratio arm allowed as long as the lift DOES NOT exceed .500 lift at the valve.

 

O     Engine Set Back

O     Maximum engine setback allowed is 50 inches measured from back of motor to the centerline of the front axle on the right side.

O     Cars running an A-frame style front end will be stringed from the centerline of one spindle to the other and measured to the back of the motor. This must also measure 50 inches.

O     All engines must be centered in the frame.

 

EXHAUST SYSTEMS

MUFFLERS MANDATORY!!

O     Headers allowed, must have mufflers.

O     3″ collector, Boria Supertrapp w/cap, Dynomax Bullet, Lobak, must be approved.

O     NO Tri-Y headers.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MUFFLER, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE.

 

V-8 FLYWHEELS/CLUTCHES

O     Flywheels must be cast iron

O     MUST BE OEM STOCK FOR MAKE AND MODEL.

 

FRONT ENDS

O     Solid front axle or A-frame front suspension allowed.

O     Coil over shocks allowed on front end only.

O     No cockpit or onboard adjustments allowed.

 

IGNITION SYSTEMS

O     Any stock H.E.I. or points ignition system allowed.

O     No mags.

O     No M.S.D’s.

 

INTAKES

O     Chevrolet or Ford Performer intake allowed

O     Vortec or Standard intake allowed

O     Any cast iron OEM two barrel intake

O     No modification allowed.

O     1″ adapter plate maximum between carburetor and intake manifold.

O     No porting, polishing, grinding, sandblasting or acid porting

 

OIL SYSTEMS

O     After market oil pans allowed.

O     After market valve covers allowed.

O     No pressurized oil canister allowed (accu-sumps.)

O     Remote oil filters allowed.

O     Oil coolers allowed, under hood only.

O     No external oil pumps.

 

REAR END

O     Any full floating or quick-change rear end allowed.

O     Maximum offset measured from the center of the rear end center section to the inside of the right rear wheel and from the center of the rear end center section to the inside of the left rear wheel will be no more than 2″. There will be a 1/8 of an inch tolerance MAXIMUM allowed due to bent wheels or the variation in wheel offset.

O     Rear end must be centered between frame rails.

NO ALUMINUM TUBES OR ALUMINUM SPINDLES ALLOWED IN REAR AXLE.

NO TITANIUM AXLES ALLOWED.

NO SMART TUBES ALLOWED.

FRONT OF REAR LEAF SPRINGS BOTH SIDES MUST BE SOLIDLY ANCHORED

O     Aftermarket brake calipers allowed.

O     No birdcages.

O     No torque arms or third links allowed.

O     No rear pan hard bars allowed.

O     No coilovers of torsion bars allowed.

O     Brake floaters are allowed, but bolt must be able to be removed from the radius rod and floater must be free at all times. If the floater isn’t free at all times it will be classified as a torque arm and you will be disqualified.

O     Rear sway bars allowed.

O     Leaf springs must be used as the rear suspension, multi-leaf or mono-leaf steel springs only. No fiberglass or composite springs allowed.

O     Jack bolts allowed on rear springs.

 

TIRES

O     Track Tire Only.

O     All cars will run Goodyear tires on all four wheels.

O     Tires must be purchased from Bear Ridge Speedway.

O     Tires may be sipped or grooved for better traction.

 

Fuel

O     Pump gas only no higher than 94 octane

 

TRANSMISSION

O     Three-(3)-speed standard automotive transmission.

O     Automatics, must have working converter.

O     BERT OR AFTERMARKET TRANSMISSIONS ALLOWED.

 

WEIGHT

O     V8 Weight with Stock Flywheel Clutch and Pressure Plate 2400 with driver

O     V8 Weight with any clutch and flywheel 2500 with driver

O     V8 Weight with BERT or Aftermarket Transmission 2500 with driver

O     6-cyl. Weight must be 2400 lbs. at any time with driver.

 

WHEELS

O     Steel or aluminum wheels

O     No wider than 14" measured from the inside of the bead to the inside of the bead lock ring.

 

WHEEL BASE

O     Minimum wheelbase 102 in.

O     Maximum wheelbase 110 in.
