2008 BRS Ridge Running Hornets RULES
Any 4-Cylinder front wheel drive car with a maximum wheelbase of 103” and a complete stock engine, frame and suspension. No 4X4’s, NO Camaros, NO Mustangs – No bracing anywhere except inside the driver’s compartment.
ENGINE:
O All insulation under the hood must be removed.
O Stock carburetor / fuel injection system for that make and model only.
O Battery must remain in stock location and covered – No exceptions.
O All engine components to remain stock untouched for year, make and model. No aftermarket high performance parts whatsoever.
O OEM production parts for year, make and model only. No engine modifications allowed.
O No V-Tech or V-4, Rotary engine, rear engine, turbos or superchargers.
O Radiator must be stock or stock replacement and in stock location.
O Must use air cleaner with stock filter element in stock position. Two throttle return springs are mandatory. No K&N or other Performance Filters allowed.
O No ram air intakes.
O No cowl induction air cleaners.
O Ignition system must be stock OEM.
TRANSMISSION:
O Stock transmission for that make and model only.
REAREND:
O Stock – unaltered rear end for that year make and model.
TIRES:
O Passenger tires only. Wheels and tires must be of like size. Stock wheel & tire size only with a maximum width of 5” inside bead to bead. – No Exceptions.
O No racing tires, DOT approved racing tires, or snow tires allowed.
O DOT approved STREET LEGAL radial tires maximum size. Passenger car tires only.
O No tires to protrude outside of body.
GAS TANK:
O Gas Tank – If the stock gas tank is located ahead of the rear axle, it may remain in place. If the stock gas tank is behind the rear axle, you may replace it with a fuel cell or boat tank (max. of 6.6 gallons). Fuel cell/boat tank must be covered, secured and located in the trunk. Trunk must be completed sealed – fire wall between trunk and driver’s compartment must be complete with no holes. NO gas tank/fuel cell/boat tank may be located in the driver’s compartment ever – No exceptions.
BODY:
O Body must be stock in appearance to the original vehicle, with no chopping, channeling or sectioning allowed.
O Body must be complete with all doors, fenders quarter panels, hood, trunk and roof as well as both bumpers.
O All doors must be welded shut to the satisfaction of the tech.
O All holes in the firewall and floor pan must be covered.
O Bumpers must be capped on the ends to prevent bumpers from hooking together and no wider than the track of the car.
ROLL CAGE:
O Roll cage is MANDATORY – 4 point roll cage mounting with two points mounting behind the driver and two in front. OPTIONAL – Driver’s side minimum of two horizontal crash bars should be installed connecting the down bars of the roll cage to protect the driver from side impact
O Unibody will be welded to a steel 8”x8” of 3/16” minimum plate which is formed and bolted or welded to the floor pan.
O Cage shall be braced to the rear frame kick-ups and diagonally between the rear uprights.
O All welds must be properly gusseted of no less than .095” thick. No pipe fittings allowed.
O All metal in driver’s door bars and roll bars in the driver’s area must be properly padded and taped.
O Left leg protection bar must be installed between roll cage and left front frame rail.
O No offset cages.
O Rear Hoop One (1) Only - Must run inside of car - NO Outside Bars
O Minimum 3” clearance recommended between top of driver’s helmet and bottom of overhead roll bars.
SAFETY:
O Driver’s door must be welded or chained shut. Driver side doorplates are mandatory. (A leaf spring separated and welded to the outside door is allowed, or it’s equivalent.
O Approved helmets (Snell 95 or better), race type seat belts (4 or 5 point harness minimum); under no circumstances can belts be installed with bolts through webbing.
O A fire suit and gloves are MANDATORY.
O Neck braces are recommended but not mandatory.
O Window net with quick release mounting, properly installed in the left front window opening, is MANDATORY.
O Windshield screen is MANDATORY if windshield is removed.
O Fire extinguisher in driver’s cockpit is MANDATORY.
O All glass, chrome, hard plastic, must be removed, including taillights, markers, and mirrors. To compete, cars must be cleaned out from any loose material, broken glass, etc.
O Driver floor pan must be complete. No holes. Exhaust must pass driver’s compartment and then exit to the rear of the car.
O Cars must have a 5/16″ chain or hook front & rear for wrecker hook up.
CHASSIS:
O All suspension and frame components must be stock for the year, make and model of the car. No modification of stock suspension locating points allowed.
O
Unibody cars may
install sub frame connectors.
SUSPENSION:
O Dash, steering, and panels must remain stock for that make and model.
O No racing springs or racing shock absorbers allowed.
O NO Leaf springs allowed.
BRAKES:
O
Stock four-wheel
brakes in good working order are MANDATORY.
THE ONLY AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT WHICH MAY BE PURCHASED:
O
Safety belts
(mandatory); aluminum racing seat (mandatory); roll cage (mandatory);
window net (mandatory); fuel cell; oil and water gauges.
CLAIM RULE:
O There will be a $600.00 claim rule. Less the seat, window net, and Fuel Cell. BRS has the sole claimer rule to keep fairness to all competitors.
O All cars are subject to a minimum specification inspection at any time. It is the responsibility of the driver to prepare their car free of defects and in safe racing conditions.
INTERPRETATION OF RULES BY AN OFFICIAL IS FINAL. THE MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE ANY RULE OR RULES IF THEY FEEL IT IS NECESSARY, AND REFUSE ANY PROTEST IF THEY FEEL IT IS UNNECESSARY AND BEING USED FOR HARASSING REASONS. ALL FINES AND/OR SUSPENSIONS WILL BE IN EFFECT AT ALL BEAR RIDGE SPEEDWAY EVENTS.
THE INTERPRETATION AND INVOKING OF THE RULES PUBLISHED HERIN SHALL BE DETERMINED BY BEAR RIDGE SPEEDWAY OFFICIALS ONLY IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL DISCRETION.
