Bear Ridge Speedway is undergoing its annual spring cleaning in preparation for opening day scheduled for Saturday May 10th.
Two weeks ago when we ventured up to the track we were greeted with a discouraging site of 2 plus feet of snow still on the ground in most places. What a difference a day makes or in this case two weeks as the track is dry the snow is all gone, except for the residual snow banks around, and the paint is flying.
The update to the configuration of the track has begun, with the “dreaded” jersey barriers finding new homes away from the inside edges of the track. Many a driver has complained of these over the past two years, so this year it was agreed to move them back out from the infield. This should improve the driver’s visibility and will hopefully make for better racing action at the Ridge.
Paint is as always at the beginning of the season, being reapplied to as many surfaces as we can get done in the next 3 weeks and several employees and fans are showing up to help get as much done as possible before the doors officials swing open on the 2008, 41st consecutive racing season at the Ridge.
The next car show will be on Saturday May 3rd at the Bradford Mini Mart which will be followed by practice at the Ridge with FREE grandstand admission.
Monster Truck Tickets are on sale now. So be sure to get your purchased early. Prepay for 10.00 at the door will be 13.00. Master card and Visa accepted. May 10th fans with valid ID showing their birthday is in the month of May will be the “Guests of WFRD 99 Rock”, and will be able to enjoy the races free (general grandstands).
