Bradford, Vt. January 20, 2008

Driver registrations being received for the Bear Ridge Speedway 2008 weekly racing season. The season kicks into gear Saturday May 3rd with a special day of practice following the annual auto show at Bradford Mini Mart Bradford Vt.

The first man to the plate for the 2008 season, is a long time runner at the Ridge, and a local legend no doubt to many in the Upper Valley Area. Baxter Doty of Tunbridge Vermont has been climbing behind the wheel of an auto competing in competition for over half of his life, and he weren’t born yesterday! Baxter has been the oldest registered driver at the Ridge at the ripe young age of almost 64 (his birthday is in May) for several years, and is anxious to get behind the wheel of his #52 bright Orange WYKR Ridge Runner Hornet once again, to show those young’uns just how it is done for yet another season in 2008 . When the gods are aligned in his favor, which is basically what it takes for just about everyone to have a successful night, Baxter is with no doubt a major contender for a coveted victory lane spot. Driving for longer than most of his fellow competition has been alive puts him in a well deserved “lofty” position. Everyone in the Hornet division looks to Baxter for guidance and support, and look up to the quite little man who graces their presence, always wearing an infectious smile. You can be sure that as long as Baxter continues to have fun, he will be seen at the Ridge on Saturday nights, anxious to once again make it to victory lane.

Free day of general grandstand admission on the Ridge’s “Test and Tune” session will be held on May 3rd immediately after the Bear Ridge Speedway’s annual car show, at the Bradford Mini Mart.

Opening night for competition is scheduled for May 10th sponsored by NAPA KDD of Bradford VT. On hand both days for the car show, test and tune, and returning for opening night the following week, will be all five divisions at the Ridge, including the Mekkelsen RV Sportsman Modifieds, Gilmour Ford Sportsman Coupe, A Notch Above IMCA Mods, the Journal Onion Fast Fours and the WYKR Ridge Runner Hornets.
